Little Comedian

After a week of covering serious topics, I think I am due a detour.

The following is a recent conversation between my almost four-year-old daughter and me...

-------------------------

Me: All right, do you need a potty break before I drive you to the park?

Preschool Smarty: No. May I let Charlie in?

"Charlie the Dog" stands in the backyard repeatedly shaking his fur on this dry and warm sunny day.

Me: Yes, that would be helpful.

Preschool Smarty: Ok, but I will need a towel.

Me: A towel? Why?

Preschool Smarty: We were playing a game outside, "Princess Garden," and I was watering all of my beautiful flowers and plants.

Me: Hmm. What was Charlie doing?

Preschool Smarty: I made him be one of my plants.

After getting a closer look at the poor pooch, I am guessing he had 4-5 watering cans dumped on his head and backside.
-----------------------------------

Note: "Charlie the Dog" is a Humane Society special and the adopted new member of the family. He is around two years old and is a 70+ lbs. yellow-lab mix.

Evidently, he was an outside dog (though he is potty-trained), but is getting used to secrets of the inside dweller--like where the little ones drop lots of great food and which couch is the most comfortable.

Hopefully it won't make him grow too much - though it may help with him putting down roots!

Charlie the dog is a lucky dawg to have found a nice home where he gets treated like a plant sometimes, haha.

Awwww, Charlie the dog sounds like a trooper!

Dear Slamdunk,
Oh, congratulations on the new addition to the family. May the couch have enough room for everybody.

I'm betting Charlie the Labrador is revelling in the attention. A little water never hurt a Lab, although it won't do much for the car seat or the sofa!!

LOL,
Good stuff,
Ann T.

Yeah for Charlie the dog. Labs love water and kids so I'm sure he's going to be just fine in your family!

Sounds like he's a good sport, at least!

Cute story. Charlie sounds like a great dog for a little one! Question: Did you let him in?

Great story! Thanks for making me smile. I have a dog and two cats who know all too well the secrets of the inside-dweller. At my house the rule is; if you want the best seat in the house you'll have to move the dog...or the cat...or the other cat...

at least she didn't try to pot him. LOL

You have to beware the potted dog, er ... um ..., dog on pot, er ... um, yellow planted dog ...

Ah, never mind. You know what I mean.

Oh too cute! We don't have any pets, so my kids just dump water on each other instead. :)

LOL...that's hilarious. I wonder if Charlie stayed still like a plant or if she had to chase him around...

Oh dear, poor dog. I can imagine what goes on a four year old girl's head. I have one of my own...and I know such things can happen. She was only trying to be HELPFUL...I am always told. A great piece and it really ticked me off!

Blessings,

Gladwell

Love it! Congrats on the 4-legged addition to the family.

Sounds like your daughter is taking great care of Charlie, and giving him everything he needs to grow - love, sunshine & water.

Aww....Princess Garden sounds like such a fun game!! I'd love to do it, as long as I wasn't the one being watered ;)

Ha! Too awesome. You should have had her add some soap for a bath!

Charlie sounds a lot like Tanner, our Golden Retriever. He would be MORE than happy to pose as a plant to be watered! Then he looks at me with the expression, "What?" and can't understand why he can't come inside.
