July 24th: A Rerun

Thank you to blogger Hilary of The Smitten Image for recognizing my recent post "Low Sodium Diet" with her Post of the Week award.

I am honored that others humor me as I continue to share my embarrassing moments on this blog.

In any event, I am running the following post a day early since 7/24 is Saturday.
____________________________________________________

I posted these thoughts, entitled simply July 24th,  last year on this memorable day from my past.

Is there one date on the calendar that has enormous significance to you?

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Thanks for mentioning that tomorrow is 24/7. It's my anniversary and I forgot to buy hubby a card. Oops!

awe, Its sad that he lost his wife on his birthday. My grandmother passed two days ago and its very difficult not being there for my father and his family but she was ready to join her husband. I might dedicate a post to her next week. Thanks for sharing this!

Dear Slamdunk,
This is a significant day for you too. I am so sorry for your loss.

Knowing you, I expect you have planned some extra attention to your Dad and to your family this day. If it is at all appropriate, please convey to everyone my sympathy for the loss of a very fine mother and wife.

Sincerely,
Ann T.

It's a very deep post. I am dreading losing my parents. My dad isn't in the best health, he hasn't been for many, many years. I've always been daddy's girl, so just the thought sickens me...not that it will be easy to lose my mom either. It's hard to imagine life without people who have always been there!!

By the way, my dad and my best-friend's son's birthday is tomorrow. My dad will be 69, Lane will be 1.

I'm so sorry that July 24th is a sad day for you. July 24th is a significant day for me too. 2 years ago, it was the day my dad and I had surgery. He now has one of my kidneys.

how very sad but i'm glad that you reposted it, giving some of us a glimpse into you and the things that are important to you.
how is your dad coming along? i've often heard that the first year can be harder than those to follow because it is a year of FIRSTS...the first thanksgiving without her, etc.
i am truly sorry that your mother has passed away and i'm glad that you're there for your dad!
