Bad Underwear

In an effort to diversify my post topics, today I delve into a recent fashion study released by ShopSmart Magazine:

...Women own an average of 21 pairs of underwear, and many say an ill-fitting or ugly pair can ruin their day, a new survey shows.

"We know that bad hair days can affect women's moods, but who knew that bad underwear days could also ruin their day," says Lisa Lee Freeman, editor in chief of ShopSmart magazine, from the publisher of Consumer Reports.
Their research center conducted a telephone survey of 1,008 women 18 and older about intimate apparel.

Almost half of women (47%) say they feel sexier and more confident wearing a nice or special pair of panties. "The first thing we put on in the morning does make a difference in our day," Freeman says...

27% say their mood is affected by wearing an ill-fitting or unattractive pair of undies...

So uncomfortable undergarments can affect a person's mood?

Wow.  Who knew?

With that kind of thought-provoking question, the study's authors should have applied for federal government funding like officials in Blue Springs, MO did a few years ago to study the "local goth culture"--they were awarded $273,000 for that "essential" research.

Am I really blogging about bad underwear?  Can you tell it is a Friday?

Have a great weekend everyone.

LOL Great blog! I believe it! I once had a pair of undies that would fall down- ALL the way down. As far as my pants would allow! Ha! I threw them out after wearing them a handful of times!

Found your site via Bloghop Loving it! Will be back!!

Oh Slam, I'm loving it. I'm not sure if I'm more entertained by uncomfortable panties, or federal grants to study the goth culture though.

Next time I am having a bad day I am going to blame it on my Undies!

LMAO. And it's true...bad underwear make for a terrible day. Especially if they are bunched up. LOL

Well, I guess a really bad pair could ruin the day.

I think warmth would be more important.

I have thrown undies out that made me irritable. AND I have SuperGirl undies that make me RULE THE WORLD!

Only in Missouri! And I'm allowed to say that since that's where I'm from.

Victoria Secret advertising is alive, well and evidently successful. I know this because both my daughters are VS addicts and they didn't get it from ME!

haha. ever heard the expression "what's got your panties in a wad?" or "what's up your butt today?" hahaha that's where that came from. But very true i love a nice pair of panties that make me feel sexy but sometimes I get those days where i just don't give and F*** and granny panties are comfy lol. tmi, yes i know, but the truth!

WOW. That's all I can say about the number of people willing to discuss underwear with strangers.

So I might as well add to it. There's nothing worse than underwear that fits poorly except when said underwear reveals serious pantie lines.

Life's too short to wear ugly undies.

There's nothing like picking a wedgie all day to make a girl cranky!

Dear Slamdunk,
JUST in the interest of equal time, I had a boss once who was male and very moody. Sometimes he was in super-precision mode, and yikes if your work or grammar wasn't perfection. Over time I realized it was on the days when he kept twitching his butt--not at people but in general. It was the underwear. I swear.

Not that I ever saw it.

I'm buying this study...and now I can blame my underwear for my bad moods!

It's true! Undies are important! Personally, I don't think I own 21 pair, but I can tell you that they can affect one's mood, not just whether they are ugly or sexy, but how they fit and whether or not they cooperate with the clothing you wear. Like if the jeans you are wearing insist on pulling down the bikini undies you are wearing... it can make for a very long day! ... er... or so I hear!

Hysterical. Nice comic relief!

Right, so if I take off these undies that are cutting me in half, I will be in a better mood?

I'm more shocked that it's ONLY 27%... when I find something comfy I bulk-buy to make sure I'm well equipped!

You just reminded me I need to buy a few new bras.

I'm always having underwear issues - too tight, too loose, panty lines, tears in lace. I guess the study is true.

hahaha, I love this. One time I wrote a blog about my ponytail....then I finished it wondering why I decided to even post it, so funny. Oh well, that's what blogs are for I think- writing about whatever weird things crosses your mind. You are right on though, why we need research to declare that clothes that don't fit make our mood a bit worse is beyond me.

Love Hilary's comment! Tey shoul,d have applied for the gov grant...there are thousands of dollars given out for what I consider bogus research every year...things that are not necessary to study.

I only like hipster underwear from the GAP. I already had tons but before I moved to Buenos Aires (where there are no GAPs) I bought another week's worth of undies for my happiness.
