On the death of Tina Smith

Just wanted to mention this on an Amber Alert in Virginia.

Authorities in Roanoke County, Virginia issued an Amber Alert for 12-year-old Britanny Mae Smith after her mother, Tina Smith also known by Tina Dyer-Smith, was found dead in their home.

Law enforcement were called to Ms. Dyer-Smith's residence after she did not show-up for work.

Authorities believe the death is a homicide, but are awaiting autopsy results.

Police would like to speak to the victim's friend/ex-boyfriend, Jeff Easley, and think that the missing girl may be with him.

Tina Dyer-Smith's MySpace page is revealing.  Her last two posts were:

12/3/2010:  "looking forward for now on"

11/24/2010: "you will look back and regret but you sealed ur fate"

Jeff Easley is listed as one of her MySpace friends, and authorities believe he is driving a 2005 Silver Dodge Neon.

What a tragedy. I hope they find this young girl and that she has a good support system to come home to. It is just so sad.

I hope this young girl comes to realize what she lost if she had any idea what was to happen, and if she was simply taken I hope she returns unharmed - at least physically.

Such a shame.

It's always a little weird looking at MySpace and Facebook pages of deceased people, especially in circumstances like this. I know when that man killed his whole family up north last summer, his Facebook page was active for about half a day and you could see all his family photos -- pics of him with the kids he murdered, pics of the wife he murdered. It was eerie. Then FB took the page down. MySpace doesn't seem to do that, and I think that's a good idea, especially in a mystery case like this one. You never know when having that page open could lead someone to see something that will help find the victim.

I hope she's okay, but my heart tells me it may be bad news.

Indeed, the MySpace page looks creepy, now that we know she isn't alive.. Hope the girl is found soon!! With the economy on the upswing, I hope people start taking up some kinda jobs to avoid sitting on ridiculous ideas of kidnap and murder.. Especially sad to read such news during holiday cheer time..

AS always you share info that I have never even heard.
I sure hope they find her.

I mostly stick my head in the sand. I hate to see so much violence in the world.

Slam, this happened in my neighborhood. The last news was that the young girl and guy were seen together at the local Walmart on Friday night. We have Amber Alerts everywhere and the police are now saying they think someone is "helping" the guy. Don't know exactly what that means, but it can't be good.

This is terrible! I hope they find her asap!

So sad. She has her life ahead of her at 12 and now no mother and being kidnapped or worse. I hope she survives and they get this man and give him what he deserves. God speed to all the law enforcement involved.

I hope she's found by now and the guy is caught.

I believe she was found alive, with the mother's boyfriend. She may have been coerced.

This story was so weird, they found her right and he was arrested without a fight. I used to have MySpace but I swear to you, I would never want my children to have it (whenever I have them), for some reason, the people on there seem seedier and likely put her in touch with this disgusting man. I'm glad she's safe but she likely was sexually abused while with the man and her Mom is now dead, ugh- just horrible.
