A Marriage Tip

I think if I had been a general contractor, the Mrs.would have been a much happier wifey.

Yes, warmer weather means home improvement projects--projects that I'll need to outsource skilled individuals to complete...

I'm sure being handy around the house is much appreciated. We're looking into buying a house. It's a good thing my husband in handy!

You know, recently I've had the same sort of thoughts of wishing HF were a carpenter or contractor or such. Neither myself or HF or very handy at home improvement. So my romantic ideas of buying a historic home and restoring it are not good ideas.

Slamdunk:
Handy IS as handy DOES...Or in the immortal words of Red-Green:
"If the women don't find you HANDSOME, they should at least find you HANDY".

I'm lucky that I can (and often want) to do most jobs around the house (carpentry, plumbing, plastering, electrical, and appliance repair).
Then there is also the OUTDOOR jobs such as gardening, tree pruning, mowing, painting, etc.

But sooner or later, you do have to bow to those with BIGGER tools, LARGER trucks, and YOUNGER bodies.

Those (once) routine jobs fast become "special ops" and that means having those BETTER qualified (more spry) doing what needs to get done.
(we can at least still watch THEM)

Good post and good luck with your "honey-do" list.

Stay safe out there.

I can do simple things, but I need help with advanced carpentry, and with putting my beer down to get off the couch - when the ball game's on.

A friends mother told us this in college: Marry rich, the potential to be rich, or at lease make sure he can fix shit around the house.

True story.

Luckily, Matt is VERY handy around the house. I bet he wishes I was a little more Suzy Homemaker.

I get spoiled by having Mr. Fixit around the house, but I don't like to let that on to him ;-)

LOL. Wisdom is found in knowing when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. Or, in your case, when to fix it and when to call the other guys.

I'm horrible at stuff like that but I'm less intimidated by remodeling after going through rebuilding our house after the flood last year.
