After several years of testing my craftiness as a Dad playing indoor hide-and-seek, I recently had a startling revelation.
For some unexplained reason, it is not comfortable trying to access places of household concealment like it used to be.
Has anyone else experienced this?
I mean the feeling that the best places (e.g. under the beds, in the backs of junk-filled closets, inside curtain-covered windows, etc.) have shrunk over the years since I started hiding in similar spots in my childhood home.
It is crazy.
Like our house is getting smaller.
Could the beds in our home have somehow moved closer to the ground so that my body does not fit underneath?
I am not sure if you all have a sensible explanation, but I am favoring that alien invaders armed with shrink rays are responsible.
Any ideas?
Wait, maybe I don't want to here them.

I dunno.. but they've done a similar number to my clothes.
Queen Bitty can hide anywhere!
hmmmm maybe those aliens shrunk you and placed you in one of those dollhouses. But the furniture wasn't made to scale..haha
HaHa! The same thing has happened here. Don't know what's going on :)
Happy Weekend!
LOL @ you not fitting under the bed. While I don't have this problem since I'm the same height and weight as the fifth grade, I can't picture my brother trying to fit himself under any type of furniture. hahaha
LOL so true. Or how, suddenly running is a lot harder than it used to be. Like, has the gravity increased or something?
It's definitely a mystery
Hahaha...too bad that your places of concealment have shrunk. Perhaps you have aliens with a shrinking spell going all over your house.
I think that I would get along well with aliens.
Just saying.

*snort* awesome!
I agree with Falen, gravity has a stronger pull the older you get. That's why getting out of bed now is so much harder.
Well, at least you're still the fun dad playing hide-and-seek! :) Merry Christmas Slam!!
You are the same; the world has gotten smaller. :)
Those darn alien shrink rays. They'll do it to you every time. :D
I know I don't fit under the bed anymore. But yes, it's interesting how we view the world from a different viewpoint when we get older.
Shrink rays. Definitely shrink rays.
There'e more of you to hide
Oh, I'm totally with you, Hilary, Falen and Julie on this: hiding places, clothes, furniture, running, getting out of bed in the morning... yep, I guess those aliens swung past our part of the world too.
It's most suspicious.
I think we should commission a scientific study. Or something.
Happy Hide-and-Go-Seeking with your Kids, though, Slam! I think it's wonderful how you play with them!
Maybe it's time to play hide n seek outside.
Hi there, Just wanted to say thanks for dropping by the other day! I appreciate it. I have been a lousy blogger as of late, but am trying to be better!
Probably someone is shaving the edges off the bed a little at a timed.
I remember when I discovered the very crafty hiding place of inside the clothes hamper underneath the dirty clothes. No way now.

Tossing It Out
If you work it out, let me know, because I swear the same thing is happening to my jeans...
Awesome! I completely understand, but am experiencing it the first time around since I am old as a first timer.
hahah- I was going to say something along the same lines as Hilary's comment :)
LOL! This is awesome and I have a similar problem.
I was overjoyed last year while playing hide and seek with my niece and nephew; to learn that I could still fit in the cupboard beneath the sink. The problem was that it took them forEVAR to find me and then I needed them to help me get OUT!
So remember.... just because you can get IN to a small space doesn't necessarily mean you've won the battle. ;)
Exactly! And chocolate makes my clothes shrink in the dryer all the time. :-D
Oh, it's not your fault. And it's not aliens, either.
As you know, wood shrinks as it dries, right? And over the years the cupboards, closets and floorboards have all shrunked! :)
