Lacks Speed and Acceleration

While researching public databases that include arrest histories for a project, I noticed this one:

Name: Defendant #45635
Date of Arrest: March 10, 2012
Location: Gwinnett County, Georgia
Charge: EXHIBITION OF SPEED/ACCELERATION

The odd charge of "exhibition of speed and acceleration" got me thinking.

When was the last time that I could have been accused of something similar?

Well, I currently drive the same speed as Mr. Magoo (that is slow for all you youngsters), and feel like I run similar to the shelled star from the children's story "The Tortoise and the Hare."

So, unable to identify with this driver's situation, I found that I can definitely relate to the charge against Ms. Brenda Jackson of Snellville, GA:

"MAINTAINING A DISORDERLY HOUSE"

Yes, drop by our house before bedtime on a school night, and you will definitely be exposed to a "disorderly" residence.

I may not be guilty of the house offense because I don't have children, but, the speeding one...yup, that's me! I'm always late. Got to make for it somehow... lol

Oh, I've been known to over-accelerate here and there. But in my (blocked #) years of driving, I've only received one ticket for going through a red light. No speeding tickets.

I've just jinxed myself, haven't I?

LOL hmmm I may be guilty of the speed, but the house not a chance, unless the cat decides to have some fun unrolling the toilet paper...hahaha

Slamdunk:
I admit to having my flirtation with excess speed (and patting myself on the back for never having been caught).
These days, it's at the limit(unless to pass...and always ON THE RIGHT).

Still, I drive using my rule of thumb:
"Never take ANY chance that you don't know you'll come out 100% OKAY from...period."

And with time and experience, you WILL know the difference.

Good post.

Stay safe (and clutter-free) out there.

I always drive 4 miles an hour over the limit, and have never been pulled over in Georgia.

Oh, no, I'm guilty of this crime, too! If they threw all of us sloppies in jail, they'd really have a mess on their hands!

I have three boys, a dog, two cats, and a husband. What do you think?

Glad to see you're back Slam... and a "Special Project" to boot on stupid crimes! Fact is, most of us break the law everyday... take the guy going 80 on the expressway where the max speed is 65, talking on a cell-phone while eating a burger. The penalty, at best a ticket and fine for speeding that'll cost the guy $300.

Hey, at least he's not home smoking pot!!! The penalty for doing that in the privacy of your home averages $1000 and jail-time for a year. If a friend is with you and you share... that's sale, and that could net you 10 years and a $3000 fine.

Interested in more on your current project, and again, glad you're back.

I drive a little slower than I used to, but still have my leadfoot moments.

I sure hope maintaining a disorderly house isn't cause for prosecution in Oklahoma!

I would really appreciate it if you could take this article off of your site.
