TP: Not Just for the Bathroom, You Know?

Last year, in the community of Avon Lake (northwest of Cleveland), police responded to a call about a home being toilet-papered.

Ahh, toilet paper pranking--an activity that transcends generations.

Still a favorite of the contemporary devious teenager, but something that every homeowner laments; as the clean-up is oh so tedious.

For those meticulous youthful planners, WikiHow even offers a 27-step plan for successful toilet papering.

Recommendations for how to TOILET PAPER A HOUSE?

I am now convinced that one can find everything on the Internet.

Well, I hope that the resident victims in Avon Lake were not treated to something like the following work of "art" that greeted a Pleasant Ridge, Michigan homeowner one morning in 2012.

Here is what that family woke up to see:

Nice.

Yeah, real nice (as long as I am not on cleaning duty).

Yes, a real pain to clean up, but it actually looks quite ethereal and pretty, in a way! We don't seem to have this phenomenon in the UK, thank goodness...

Yes, the police blotters here in the CLE are full of this nonsense. It's a custom for cheerleaders to TP the house of each varsity team player before one of the big games each season in football, basketball and baseball. I was glad my son played tennis!

That tree is pretty cool though...

Damn, cleaning all of that up would be a super pain. Need to track down the tp's and make them clean it up haha

Ah, the "jokes" kids will pull. It's not as funny if they are caught and made to clean it. Yet i understand the allure of such a mostly harmless prank.

Oh my. I would not have enjoyed that prank if it were me. And indeed you can find anything on the interwebs! Isn't it great?

I well remember being asked if I wanted to go and "paper" someone's house.
I always said no.
Of course, I also never smoked marijuana either! Must of been the only one in the Class of 1975 that didn't! HA!

Our neighbors' got papered last year. Since they were too lazy to clean it up, we were left picking up pieces of it from our yard for weeks. Grrrrr.

I don't find it funny to TP someone's home. These kids think it's funny because there are no consequences. They also don't realize the TP drifts over to the neighbor's and they have to clean up the mess.

The clean-up is the WORST. Especially if the trees collected dew in the morning and the toilet paper got all wet. Ick!

I always think of the cost of the TP!

Good grief! Those kids dropped a ton of money to buy that much tp!

One thing that always strikes me is how wasteful it is. And I am not amused by pranks that seem destructive or mean-spirited, as this does.

I've ever had my place tp'd before but we did have eggs thrown on us once when we were taking our daughter trick or treating.

Eek on that mess. Thankfully that has never happened to my house (or anyone I know).

I hope the individuals will be forever cursed. And whenever they go to the toilet, the roll is bare.

Jax said...

Well, at least it's a fairly harmless prank. Not to mention, they put a lot of effort into THAT monstrosity. Hahaha

Oh the mess. A water hose is the only way they're going to get that tp off the tops of the trees.... Around here, people will tp something small in the front yard of a person getting married or before a party. It's usually a small tree or something, done in good fun, and rarely done to this extreme. In fact, I've never seen a house here in France tp'ed the way they do it in the States. Maybe tp is just more expensive here, lol.

Hope you and yours are well!! :)

Maybe I'm the only one but I couldn't help but laugh at the pictures. Those teens sure had a ball doing that. Am I also the only person who thinks it would be fun to TP a house? Let me add that I wouldn't do it to a strangers house or for devious reasons. And I'd want to be nice and clean up afterward.

Guess there ARE some people with entirely TOO MUCH time on their hands.
Cripes, whatta cleanup!!

(and TP simply isn't THAT cheap.

I:m another one here that also sees this as a total WASTE.

Stay safe out there.
